Portraits at Little Woodrow’s with Cassidy Edison

Little Woodrow’s on Burnet isn’t the first place you’d think of for portraits, but that’s exactly why I wanted to try it. The red brick walls, the warm light slipping through the windows, and the buzz of people around us gave the whole place a different kind of energy. And then there was Cassidy Edison — an absolute pro in front of the camera, but also someone who made the whole process easy and fun.

From the very beginning, she brought this calm, dreamy presence. Sitting on a chair by the wall, she didn’t just pose — she created a moment. Her eyes drifted past the camera like she was lost in thought, and with the light catching her skin so perfectly, I knew I had something special.

As we kept shooting, Cassidy shifted into something more playful. She leaned back, crossed her legs, and gave me this effortless smile that completely changed the mood. I knew right away it wasn’t just a color shot — it had that timeless quality that belongs in black and white. The tones, the posture, the elegance — it all came together as one of those frames that feels classic the moment you take it.

And then came the moment that really sealed it: she started singing along to Beyoncé, dancing her way toward me with the light glowing behind her. The laughter, the motion, the music — it all came together in a way you couldn’t plan even if you tried. That’s what I live for as a photographer: capturing someone’s energy when they’re fully themselves.

Sessions like this remind me why I’m always hunting for new locations. It’s not about the “perfect” spot, it’s about what happens when the right person and the right light come together. Little Woodrow’s turned out to be an unexpected gem, and Cassidy made it unforgettable.
